About Us
The Music
We feature old time, blues, jazz, bluegrass, folk, and Americana music—genres evolved from a mixture of the music that developed in regional isolation. During the Civil War, soldiers from across the country commingled, and these multifarious strands of American music began to cross-fertilize each other. They would later become more widespread through the phonograph.
The Setting
During the Civil War, The City of Fredericksburg and County of Spotsylvania, VA, situated halfway between the capitals of the opposing forces, were the sites of numerous battles. Located along the Rappahannock River midway between Richmond and Washington, DC, these historic locations provide the backdrop for our concert series.
The Site
A. Smith Bowman Distillery is an historic family-owned distillery open to the public for complimentary tours, Monday-Saturday, departing hourly from 9am-3pm. Tours last about 1 hr. No reservations are required unless you have a group of 20 or more. For large groups, send an email or call 540.373.4555 to be sure your visit is well staffed.
The Shows
The red brick buildings that house the A. Smith Bowman Distillery, just minutes from downtown Fredericksburg, provide the perfect setting to listen to timeless music. Our goal is to provide you with an enjoyable listening experience, free of the noise and atmosphere of the bar scene, in a unique setting.
You’ll feel transported to another time and feel a connection to our uniquely American culture, surrounded by a group of people who are there to enjoy and respect the artists and other patrons.
